Supreme Court's judgment in Schott Glass awarded "Impact Case of the Year" at Benchmark Litigation Asia Pacific Awards, 2026

AnantLaw's work on the Supreme Court of India's judgment in CCI v. Schott Glass India has won "Impact Case of the Year" at the Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific Awards 2026, held in Beijing, China, on 2 July 2026. AnantLaw successfully represented Schott Glass India in this landmark case before the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court's judgment brings much-needed clarity for companies that may be considered "dominant" in one or more of their business segments, and who have long struggled to determine whether their business justifications for pricing and discount arrangements with suppliers or distributors hold up under the Competition Act. Even the most basic practices, such as volume-based discounts and slab-wise discount structures, had remained in a legal grey area until now.

The judgment also puts an end to a long-running debate before the CCI over whether an actual "effects test" must be conducted before a dominant enterprise is subjected to reputational, financial, and operational harm on a premature finding.

Schott Glass was represented by AnantLaw through its partners Ms Anu Monga and Mr Rahul Goel.
